For me the enjoyment of making music began in my early teenage years at the start of the 1960’s. I started to play guitar and dreamed of being able to one day emulate some of the exciting new music sounds as they emerged throughout that decade. However, the school rock band’s one night gig was as far as this ever got in reality. There is actually a recording somewhere but I really do hope it is never discovered. As the 60’s ended so did my teenage years and I embarked on a career in Engineering. For quite a few years any involvement in music took a back seat as job and family commitments grew but ultimately this changed and somewhat later in life I was able to begin playing music fairly regularly in a variety of situations.
Finally, relocation to Somerset brought me into contact with Derek all through a mutual friend. We started playing guitar together and this was the start of what has turned out to be an extraordinary journey as one by one Derek’s songs have been brought to life resulting in this album. It has been a great privilege to have shared this experience with Derek and the amazing ‘Life Just Comes and Goes’ team.
